• Rail River Run - 07.30am & 10.30am departure options
  

  7.30AM DEPARTURE

  Check in at the Forgotten World Motel 30 minutes before departure before taking a short shuttle bus to the start of the line at Okahukura. Here you’ll board your rail cart and set off on your journey through the Forgotten World. Immerse yourself in the ever-changing landscape of rolling hills, remote farmland and native bush and experience wildlife close to the tracks as you travel through tunnels and over bridges. You'll stop for morning tea in the historic village of Matiere. The rail cart part of your experience will end at Tokirima Station where you'll enjoy a rail-side picnic lunch between your adventures. You'll then take the shuttle bus to Ohinepane where you'll board your jet boat. Embark on an informative jet boat journey on the Whanganui River and take in the awe-inspiring scenery as you learn about the early settlers and pioneers and importance of the river. You'll disembark at Cherry Grove for your return transfer back to our finishing point, the Forgotten World Motel where you'll arrive at approximately 2pm.

  10.30AM DEPARTURE

Embark on an informative jet boat journey on the Whanganui River and take in the awe-inspiring scenery as you learn about the early settlers and pioneers and importance of the river. You'll disembark at Ohinepane and then take the shuttle bus to Tokirima where you'll enjoy a rail-side picnic lunch between your adventures. You'll then board your rail cart and set off on your journey through the Forgotten World. Immerse yourself in the every-changing landscape of rolling hills, remote farmland and native bush and experience wildlife close to the tracks as you travel through tunnels and over bridges. You'll stop for afternoon team in the historic village of Matiere before slowing to a halt at Okahukura. You'll be shuttled back to the Forgotten World Motel where your journey with us will end at approximately 5pm.

  "A fantastic Must Do day"

  This trip was a long held dream, to see NZ's own back yard and it delivered. The jet boat ride to kick off was fabulous. stopping here and there on the river for a bit of information from our skipper, after a safety briefing before going onto the river. Our two female bus drivers were competent, engaging and friendly, as were ALL of the staff, I could not find one fault with this trip, from start to finish...I learnt things about our history I never knew.,,If you want to see the real NZ countryside, learn a bit about NZ you didn't know (even if you are a born and bred Kiwi like myself) you must do this. I have travelled around the world and this trip was a standout amongst anything overseas has to offer. (5-star review, Trip Advisor Jan 2024)
