What an amazing experience. Emerging from the fog of a fresh April morning in Taumarunui into the clear sky along the scenic route along the 82kms of track through farmland or native bush. Beautiful scenery, excellent commentaries, home baked goodies to keep us well fed for morning and afternoon teas and lunch. The 20 or so tunnels are a real feat of incredible engineering in difficult terrain – much admiration for the teams of men who cut through the hills and bush to create the line and the tunnels. A must see on your bucket list….you will be very well informed and looked after by this amazing Forgotten World Adventures company.

The Expedition

Remote NZ at its best. Fun, friendly and informative. The cost for such an excellent weekend was very reasonable. We spent two days and one night with on our expedition. We had a lot of laughs, while learning the history of the area. The jet boat and Heli trip is something I will never forget. Staff are always there and ready to help. There was a group of twelve of us on our trip and we were easily accommodated.

The Republic

A friend and I recently did the Republic 1 Forgotten World rail tour and I have to say it was one of the absolute best experiences of our lives!! We stayed the night at the Forgotten World Motel as we were traveling down from Auckland and though it is an older motel, it had everything we needed for a two night stay. But from the motel to the rail tour to the shuttle ride back at the end of the tour the most memorable thing was the staff

Absolutely unforgettable — a true bucket-list experience. We did Forgotten World Adventures last weekend and honestly… wow. This is one of the most unique experiences you can do in New Zealand. Every detail was dialled in perfectly — seamless transport, great food, comfy accommodation, and totally on-time organisation from start to finish.
