April 1, 2024

Join us for our inaugural fundraiser for the Taumarunui Women's Refuge and an unforgettable day out on the tracks with special guest Sir Wayne Smith - Saturday 13th April

Forgotten World Adventures are proud supporters of the Taumarunui Women’s Refuge & Support Centre, which provides vital support and services in the community in which we operate.

We’re delighted to welcome Sir Wayne Smith on board the rails for this inaugural fundraiser event on 13th April 2024. All proceeds will go to the Refuge as we attempt to promote awareness and support the women and families affected by violence.

New Zealand rugby union coach and former player Sir Wayne Smith was assistant coach of the All Blacks for 16 years and is regarded as one of the greatest coaches in history, having won three Rugby World Cups, most recently as head coach of the Black Ferns team in 2022. He was promoted to Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2023 for services to rugby and his charity work helping children with cerebral palsy.

Package includes:

  • Shuttle bus from Taumarunui to Tokirima
  • 4 hour guided rail cart journey, with stops for historical context & commentary, from Tokirima to NZ’s self-proclaimed Republic of Whangamōmona
  • Travel along 43km of the old Stratford-Okahukura Railway Line through pristine native bush, beautiful farmland and forgotten townships
  • Rail-side lunch at Tokirima
  • Afternoon tea at Tāngarākau Gorge
  • Glass of bubbles or welcome drink upon arrival at Whangamōmona Station
  • Return shuttle to Taumarunui
