Midge's Homemade Baking
Meet our baker extraordinaire, Michelle Te Ahuru, aka Midge
enjoy home-baked goodies during your experience and stay
Born and bred in Taumarunui, Midge is responsible for all home-baked products served at the motel and on our experiences.
Inspired by her Nana Jo, and no doubt being Mum to four strapping young boys, Midge is passionate about food and cooking, and has spent years perfecting her now trademark goodies which we’re delighted to serve with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on all of our experiences. We also sell them in our gifts and souvenirs shop!

Midge’s Mumble Slices and ANZAC Biscuits (along with gluten and dairy free alternatives) are available for purchase by the bag at ‘The Shed’ at Tokirima, along with our complete range of gifts and souvenirs. Guests can also buy the home-baked goods and browse a selection of gifts at our motel reception/ Forgotten World Adventures base.
hearty dinners
Midge works closely with Forgotten World Motel Manager Robyn Kakahi in our kitchen, cooking up home-made breakfasts for guests before they embark on their adventures. Together, they also provide ‘Hearty Dinners’ for our larger tour groups; guests can indulge in quality two course meals produced from locally sourced ingredients, such as ‘roast minted lamb with roasted vegetables and broccoli cheese’ followed by Midge’s famous cream puffs (or chocolate eclairs if you prefer!) or fresh fruit salad.
