As part of our ongoing commitment to support the local community, we welcomed 28 children from Manunui Primary School last week who enjoyed a special day out on the rails! They set off from the old Okahukura Station and travelled along the SOL in their convoy of carts, led by FWA’s star guide Chris Tempest and his merry band of workers – Shannon, Ray, Shani, Caprice and Jorja! As with all of our experiences, our little adventurers stopped along the way to listen to Chris talk about the history of the railway line and the Forgotten World and he helped the children understand more about its importance to the region. The group continued on to Matiere where they stopped for some well deserved morning tea in Matiere Hall, which of course included Midge’s legendary mumble slices! Many thanks to the kids’ chaperones and to the FWA team members who helped make the day a memorable one. The children had a great time!
